Peace is Loud has signed on as a proud co-sponsor of the Women’s March on Washington, a historic march in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 expected to bring together 200,000 people dedicated to affirming that women’s rights are human rights. We fully ascribe to the March’s Unity Principles, summarized below:
We must create a society in which women - including Black women, Native women, poor women, immigrant women, disabled women, Muslim women, lesbian queer and trans women - are free and able to care for and nurture their families, however they are formed, in safe and healthy environments free from structural impediments.
Putting peace into action to call for greater respect and recognition of women’s rights is central to our mission. We echo the words of the March’s mission statement:
We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.
Peace is Loud speaker Lucy McBath will be one of the featured speakers at the march, representing Mothers of the Movement, a coalition of mothers dedicated to criminal justice reform and gun control, along with Sybrina Fulton, Maria Hamilton and Gwen Carr.
